The 1917 Chalmers 35A advertised has been purchased by me and has now arrived in New Zealand, it appears from the little research I have done so far that there are 2 other Chalmers cars here. Due to Covid 19 lockdown here I am unable to collect the car from dock storage in Auckland but when restrictions are lifted and I get it back home I'll assess what it needs to make it compliant for use here and then decide on any cosmetic work needed. I'll keep you updated on progress. Alastair Chalmers.

Further to the post above, at the end of the first lockdown I collected the car from Auckland and trailered it back to Hawkes Bay where I live. I started by assessing the overall condition of the car which, although complete, either needs a complete restoration or at the very minimum a mechanical and electrical overhaul to get it compliant for use here in NZ. The radiator leaked like a sieve so that was removed for repair and I started doing some small jobs on it but got more than slightly sidetracked with building a new large car storage shed and rebuilding the existing old garage with a new purpose built playroom complete with 2 post hoist and proper benches and equipment to make any restoration work easier, it's that age thing. Between building sheds and Covid restrictions the Chalmers has not progressed much to date but plans are in place to do the mechanical and electrical work and present the car as an expedition car with all the stuff you would need to do a major tour of the world in period.
Any suggestions on what should be on it will be gratefully received. Cheers, Alastair
